Current ClickFix release: 3.04

For technical support, please email the author, Jeffery Klein, at clickfix@jdklein.com.

Requirements

ClickFix requires Adobe Audition (version 1.0 through 3.0) from Adobe Systems, Inc, or a registered copy of Cool Edit 2000 (version 1.0 or later) or Cool Edit Pro (version 1.2 or later) from Syntrillium Software Corporation. It has the same system requirements as Adobe Audition and Cool Edit. At least 640x480 screen resolution is required. If you can run Adobe Audition or Cool Edit, and have at least 2 Mbytes of free disk space, you can install and run ClickFix.

ClickFix does not work with Audition CS5.5 or later, Cool Edit 96, the demo version of Cool Edit Pro 1.2, or Cool Edit 2000 Lite. It does work with the demo versions of Cool Edit 2000 and Cool Edit Pro 2.0 and 2.1.

Known Issues

●    If ClickFix does not display as a menu choice in Audition or Cool Edit, make sure that Data Execution Protection (DEP) in Windows is turned OFF for Audition or Cool Edit.

For information about DEP, see:
https://www.majorgeeks.com/content/page/everything_you_need_to_know_about_windows_data_execution_prevention_or_dep.html

https://www.lifewire.com/exclude-programs-from-dep-data-153349

Below is what the DEP settings window looks like in Windows 10. Select either the first option ("Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only"), or select the second option and specify the host program executable file you are using.

DEP settings window in Windows

If you select the second option, here are the executable files for which DEP should be turned off:

For Adobe Audition: Audition.exe, typically in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Audition...
For Cool Edit Pro: coolpro2.exe, typically in C:\Program Files (x86)\coolpro2
For Cool Edit 2000: cool2000.exe, typically in C:\Program Files (x86)\Cool2000

●    If you are using Adobe Audition 3.0, make sure you have installed the 3.0.1 patch from Adobe. This patch addresses a number of issues found after the release of Audition version 3.0, including a bug that can cause Audition to crash when using Spectral Display.

●    To restore the default ClickFix presets when using Adobe Audition 1.0 or 1.5, follow these steps:

1. Shut down Adobe Audition if it is running.

2. Locate the Audition.ini file on your hard drive.

On Windows XP, it should be located in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Audition\versionnumber
On Windows Vista through Windows 10, it should be located in C:\User\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\versionnumber

3. Open Audition.ini using Notepad.

4. Scroll down through the file and locate the section labeled [ClickFix Click and Pop Removal Presets].  It should look something like this:

5. Delete this entire section from the Audition.ini file and save the file.

6. Save the file and close Notepad.

7. Restart Adobe Audition and bring up ClickFix.  The default presets should be displayed.

●    To restore the default ClickFix presets when using Adobe Audition 2.0 or 3.0, follow these steps (DO NOT attempt this unless you are familiar with XML and are comfortable editing an XML file):

1. Shut down Adobe Audition if it is running.

2. Locate the effect_settings.xml file on your hard drive.

On Windows XP, it should be located in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Audition\versionnumber
On Windows Vista through Windows 10, it should be located in C:\User\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\versionnumber

3. Make a backup copy of effect_settings.xml, so you can undo your changes if you make a mistake.

4. Using an XML editor, delete the sections related to ClickFix.

5. Save the file and close the XML editor.

6. Restart Adobe Audition and bring up ClickFix.  The default presets should be displayed.
